Gameplay & common questions
How do I play?
Every block carries an arrow. Tap a block and it slides in the direction that arrow points, rolling off the edge if the path ahead is clear. Clear the exposed blocks to uncover the layers beneath them, and keep going until the board is empty.
Why will a block not move?
Three things stop a block. It has to be exposed — blocks buried under another block cannot move at all. The path along its arrow has to be clear: any block at the same height or taller in that line blocks the exit, though blocks that sit lower are simply rolled over. A blocked tap costs you nothing, so it is safe to test one.
Is there an undo?
No. A move is final, and blocks removed with a hammer or bomb are gone for good, so it is worth reading the board before committing. You can restart a level at any time from the control in the top corner.
What do the hint, hammer, and bomb do?
You start with three of each and they carry between levels. A hint highlights a block that genuinely has a clear path — tapping the same highlighted block again never spends a second charge. A hammer smashes one exposed block even when its arrow is blocked. A bomb clears the block you select along with every neighbouring stack.
How do I get more power-ups?
Campaign milestones award a hammer every five levels and a bomb every ten. The daily challenge pays a hammer and a bomb, and a seven-day streak pays five hints, five hammers, and five bombs. When you run out, you can watch an optional reward video for a single charge. Replaying a level you have already finished does not award milestone rewards again.
Does restarting refund my power-ups?
No. Anything spent before you restart stays spent, so restart early if a board has gone wrong rather than after using tools on it.
How does the daily challenge and streak work?
One puzzle each day, the same board for every player, decided by the date. Winning it extends your streak and pays a reward once per day. Seven days in a row completes a week and pays the full five-of-each bonus. Missing a day sends the streak back to the start.
Are there really 6,000 levels?
Yes — 60 chapters of 100. Boards start at seven blocks on a single layer and grow to several hundred blocks stacked up to six layers deep. Every level is checked against the game's own solver before it ships: all 6,000 have a verified solution, and no two share a layout. Replaying a level gives you the same board.
Does Jester Hex work offline?
Every puzzle plays offline, including the daily challenge. Only ads and analytics need a connection, and neither is required to progress. No account is needed.
How is my progress saved?
Completed levels, your power-up counts, streaks, and the board you are part-way through are written to your device after every move. Leaving a level mid-board and coming back returns you to exactly where you stopped. There is no cloud sync or account restore, so deleting the app can remove progress — contact support before reinstalling.
Can I zoom in on a large board?
Yes. Pinch to zoom on the board, or use the zoom control beneath it, and drag to pan around. Later chapters are big enough that this helps.
Do I have to watch ads?
No. Reward videos are always optional and only ever exchange your attention for a power-up — a power-up is granted only once the video actually finishes. The game also shows a banner on the home screen and an occasional break between levels, never during a puzzle and never before level 10.
An ad did not load, or I did not get the reward. What should I do?
Ads need an internet connection and are not always available; when one is not, the game simply carries on. If a video finished and the power-up did not arrive, send us your level number, device model, app version, and roughly when it happened.
Can I turn off sound, vibration, or analytics?
Yes. Open Settings from the gear on the home screen. Sound effects and vibration are switched there, and Share Anonymous Analytics can be turned off at any time. Ad privacy choices appear there too when the consent service requires them. Website privacy choices are separate from these in-app settings.
Which devices are supported?
iPhone and iPad running iOS 17 or later. Jester Hex is not yet on the App Store — the product page will link to it as soon as the listing is live.
