Privacy Policy
The short version: PhotoClarity processes your photo library entirely on your iPhone or Android device. Your photos and videos are never uploaded to us or the advertising provider. The free version displays ads, and an optional PhotoClarity+ subscription removes them.
JesterMedia LLC ("JesterMedia," "we," "us," or "our") provides PhotoClarity, an iPhone and Android app for reviewing and cleaning up a photo library. This policy explains how PhotoClarity handles information on both platforms.
1. Information PhotoClarity Accesses
With your permission, PhotoClarity accesses photos and videos through Apple Photos on iPhone or Android MediaStore so it can display them for review, organize them into cleanup sections, show basic details, and carry out deletion choices that you confirm.
PhotoClarity may identify categories such as screenshots, large videos, bursts, and selfies. This organization uses Apple’s on-device Photos framework or Android MediaStore and does not require uploading or analyzing your media on a server. Android category matching may use album, bucket, and filename information available through MediaStore.
2. Information We Collect
PhotoClarity does not require an account and does not ask us to store your name, email address, photo library, or cleanup decisions. The free version uses Google AdMob to display advertising. Google and its partners may automatically process information such as your device or advertising identifier, IP address, approximate location derived from IP, ad and app interactions, diagnostics, and consent choices to deliver, measure, prevent fraud in, and improve ads. The precise data used can depend on your region, platform, device settings, consent, and whether personalized advertising is permitted.
PhotoClarity also uses Google Firebase Analytics to understand how the app is used. Analytics records app events such as opening a cleanup section, finishing a review run, using undo, and confirming a deletion, together with counts and rounded space estimates, plus a randomly generated app instance identifier and standard device information such as model, operating system version, and country. It never records your photos, videos, filenames, dates, or which specific items you kept or deleted. We do not set a user identifier, and analytics data is not used by JesterMedia to track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
On iPhone, PhotoClarity may ask for permission under Apple’s App Tracking Transparency framework before allowing data to be used to track you across other companies’ apps and websites. On Android, Google’s consent flow may ask about advertising choices and provides an in-app Advertising privacy choices control when required. You can decline optional consent and still use PhotoClarity; ads may be less personalized.
3. Local Storage
PhotoClarity stores a limited amount of app state on your device, including identifiers for items you have reviewed, your deleted-item count, preferences, and an exact or estimated amount of space reclaimed. This information helps the app resume your progress. It is not transmitted to us. You can reset this progress inside the app, and removing the app removes its locally stored app data subject to iOS or Android behavior. The Android app excludes this app state from cloud backup and device transfer.
4. Deleting Photos and Videos
PhotoClarity does not delete an item merely because you swipe left. It first builds a pending list and uses the platform’s system-owned confirmation when you choose to delete. On iPhone, confirmed items move to Recently Deleted, where Apple normally keeps them recoverable for 30 days unless you permanently remove them sooner. On supported Android devices, confirmed items move to the gallery provider’s Trash or recycle bin under that provider’s retention rules. Recovery and permanent deletion are managed in Apple Photos or your Android gallery app.
5. Permissions and Your Choices
You may grant full or limited photo-library access where the platform supports that choice. Limited or selected-media access means PhotoClarity can review only the items you select. You can change or revoke access at any time in iOS or Android Settings. Without photo access, the core cleanup features cannot operate.
6. Advertising
The free version displays ads through Google AdMob (Google LLC). AdMob operates under Google’s own privacy practices. PhotoClarity does not give Google access to your photo library, photos, videos, filenames, or cleanup choices. Depending on your consent and settings, ads may be personalized or non-personalized. PhotoClarity+ subscribers do not see third-party ads while their entitlement is active.
7. Subscriptions and Purchases
PhotoClarity+ is an optional auto-renewing subscription purchased through Apple’s App Store or Google Play. The applicable storefront processes payment details, purchase history, billing, refunds, and subscription management under its privacy practices. PhotoClarity receives limited purchase information needed to verify whether PhotoClarity+ is active, such as product, transaction or purchase token, entitlement, and expiration status. We do not receive your full payment-card details. You can manage or cancel through your Apple ID subscriptions or Google Play subscriptions.
8. Children’s Privacy
PhotoClarity is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children. Advertising providers may apply age-appropriate treatment based on applicable law and information available to them. A parent or guardian should supervise any child’s decisions to delete media from a shared or family-managed device.
9. Data Security
Your photos and locally stored app progress remain subject to the security protections of your device and operating system. You are responsible for protecting access to your device and for managing the contents of Recently Deleted, Trash, or the recycle bin. Third-party advertising, analytics, and payment data is protected according to the practices of Google and Apple.
10. Third-Party Services and Retention
PhotoClarity may use services provided by Google (AdMob, Firebase Analytics, and Google Play) and Apple. Their handling and retention of information is governed by their own privacy policies. These providers do not receive photo-library content from PhotoClarity. Because PhotoClarity has no JesterMedia account, we do not maintain an account profile to delete. You can reset local cleanup progress in the app, remove the app to delete its local app data subject to platform behavior, adjust advertising choices in the app or device settings, and contact us with privacy questions.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as PhotoClarity changes. The effective date above will be revised when a new policy is posted.
