The short version: Your household financial data is private, encrypted, and only accessible to confirmed household members. We never sell it. The free version shows ads โ€” you can go ad-free with Premium to avoid ad tracking entirely.

JesterMedia LLC ("we," "us," or "our") operates PayClarity, an iOS app for household bill splitting and budget planning. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how it is used, and your rights regarding that data.

1. Data We Collect

Account & Authentication

When you sign in, we collect your email address via Firebase Authentication (Google LLC). This is used solely to identify you across devices and link you to your household. Sign-in options include email magic link, Sign in with Apple, or Sign in with Google.

Household Financial Data

PayClarity stores the following in Firebase Firestore, encrypted at rest, accessible only to members of your household:

This data is never used for advertising, analytics, or shared with any third party other than Firebase for storage.

Advertising Identifiers (Free Tier Only)

The free version of PayClarity displays ads via Google AdMob. AdMob may use your device's advertising identifier (IDFA) for ad personalization and frequency capping. You will be prompted for tracking permission via Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework before any IDFA access occurs. Denying permission limits ad personalization but does not affect app functionality. PayClarity Premium subscribers see no ads and are not subject to ad identifier collection.

Usage & Crash Diagnostics

Anonymized crash reports and usage data are collected via Firebase to help us identify and fix bugs. This data is not linked to your identity.

We do not use your financial data for machine learning, profiling, marketing, or any purpose outside core app functionality.

All data in transit is encrypted via TLS. Firestore data is encrypted at rest. Household financial data is access-controlled at the Firestore security rules level โ€” only Firebase Auth UIDs that have been added to a household's member list can read or write that household's data.

6. Data Sharing & Sale

We do not sell your personal information or household financial data to any third party. We do not share your data with advertisers beyond the anonymized signals AdMob uses for ad delivery in the free tier. We share data with Firebase (Google) only as necessary to operate the service.

7. Household Data Access

Only users whose Firebase Auth UID has been added to a household โ€” either as the creator or via an invite code โ€” can access that household's data. Household reads are restricted at the database level; no unauthenticated or non-member access is possible.

8. Account & Data Deletion

To leave a household: Settings โ†’ Leave Household. Your data remains in the cloud for the other household member. To sign out: Settings โ†’ Sign Out. To request full deletion of your account and all associated data, contact support@jestermedia.app and we will process your request within 30 days.

9. Children's Privacy

PayClarity is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us at support@jestermedia.app and we will delete it promptly.

10. Your Rights (California & Virginia)

Residents of California (CCPA) and Virginia (VCDPA) may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal information we hold. To exercise these rights, contact support@jestermedia.app. We will respond within 45 days.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy periodically. We will post updates here and revise the "Last Updated" date. Continued use of PayClarity after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
