JesterMedia operates PlainStitch, an iPhone and iPad app that translates crochet patterns into plain English. This policy explains what information PlainStitch collects, why it is used, and how you can manage it.
Information PlainStitch May Collect
Firebase Authentication may store a user ID, email address, sign-in provider, or pseudonymous guest session identifier.
Imported PDFs, images, pasted text, extracted OCR text, translations, notes, and project progress may be stored locally or synced for app functionality.
PlainStitch requests camera or photo library access only when you choose to import pattern images or save exported assets.
PlainStitch Premium purchases are processed by Apple. JesterMedia does not receive your full payment card details.
The free tier uses Google AdMob and may use Firebase Analytics. iOS advertising integrations include Unity/ironSource, Liftoff Monetize (Vungle), and Unity Ad Quality. Providers may process identifiers, IP-derived approximate location, interactions, and diagnostics for advertising, measurement, security, and personalization where permitted. Denying iOS tracking does not stop all technical processing.
If you contact support, we receive the email address, message, screenshots, files, or troubleshooting details you choose to send.
Pattern Translation and AI Processing
When you ask PlainStitch to translate a pattern or answer a question about a pattern, the relevant pattern text may be sent to JesterMedia backend services and an AI service provider so the app can generate the translation or response.
Only import material you have the rights to process, including permission for the cloud or AI processing involved. Buying a pattern does not automatically grant every reuse right. PlainStitch is designed for personal assistance and does not publish or sell user-uploaded patterns.
How We Use Information
- To import, OCR, translate, save, and display your crochet projects.
- To provide guided step mode, pattern assistant answers, glossary features, and project progress.
- To authenticate users, enforce usage limits, and manage account deletion requests.
- To process subscriptions and Premium access through Apple.
- To display ads in the free tier, measure product interactions, diagnose crashes, and improve reliability.
- To respond to support, privacy, and data deletion requests.
Third-Party Services
PlainStitch may use Firebase Authentication, Firestore, Firebase Functions, Firebase Storage, Firebase Analytics, Google AdMob, Apple App Store, and AI service providers to operate app features. These providers process information according to their own terms and privacy policies.
Storage, Security, and Deletion
PlainStitch stores projects locally on your device and may use cloud services for account-backed features, usage limits, translation, support, or Premium functionality. Data in transit uses encrypted connections. Cloud data is access-controlled through Firebase services.
You can delete local projects in the app. If you have an account, use the account deletion option in PlainStitch or contact support@jestermedia.app for deletion help.
Your Choices
- Manage camera, photo library, and tracking permissions in iOS Settings.
- Manage PlainStitch Premium through your Apple ID subscription settings.
- Delete projects in the app when you no longer need them.
- Contact us to request access, correction, or deletion of personal information.
Children's Privacy
PlainStitch is not directed at children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us and we will review and delete it where appropriate.
Website visits, retention, and additional choices
This notice describes the app. Website hosting and optional website analytics are described in the JesterMedia website privacy notice. Website choices do not change app settings. Data retention depends on the feature, account status, your deletion requests, provider processing, and necessary security, transaction, or legal records. You may contact us to ask about retention, exercise applicable access, correction, deletion or advertising opt-out rights, or appeal our response. Material changes will be notified and consent requested where required; this notice does not retroactively authorize a new data use.
